It was time to replace the boats that are located in Tonga. They are used to transport the missionaries around to the different islands. The boats of course have to be tested and the engines have to be broken in so.....we all sign up for a day on the ocean to help break in the boats. What a great day. Howard Nui (the brother of a master carver in Tonga) and Michael Higgins were our Captain and Skipper. We cruise out to Waiheke Island, then go around Rangitoto. We stop by a little island and drop the fish lines and pull in a dozen snappers. There are three boats. Alma, Nephi, and Moroni....painted on the side of the boats are the names Alama, Nifai, and Molonai. Since the boats are going to be used in the Tongan islands the names should be Tongan huh? They will be transported to Tonga on a big barge and then put into service. We want our missionaries to be safe when they go from island to island. These boats are aluminum and stainless..not painted-- just work horses. We had a great time! We will be happy to help them test out the new boats any time!
